Our community garden: Oxgangs Bowling Green
Oxgangs Bowling Green, just off Colinton Mains Park, is the former site of the Colinton Mains Bowling Club. Since the club closed its doors in 2018, the site has been overgrown.
We’ve applied for planning permission with the City of Edinburgh Council to transform this overgrown space into a community garden.
Our plans
While it’s still early days, we have great plans for the garden! We want it to become a lively community space that features:
- wild hedges
- fruit trees
- raised beds, including accessible planters for wheelchair users and people with reduced mobility
- other features as suggested by our members – watch this space!

We’re also looking forward to working with local schools and other organisations and having volunteers join us to transform the space.
